Each month, we get the Primary Planet magazine. What a coincidence that there was a whole page article all about the salmon! It was great to recognise the names – alevins, fry, parr, smolt and Grilse!!
Eureka ‘The waters and the Wild’
In science, we learned all about the lifecycle of the frog. We also learned about the otter and the minibeast the otter eats.
Vocabulary
We have a vocabulary wall in our classroom. We certainly learned lots of new vocabulary when doing the something fish project!
Something Fishy Project Noticeboard
In our school, we have a large noticeboard full of information what we have learned by doing the something fishy project. The Juniors, love reading the information too!
How amazing!! Seeing an alevin, parr and fry in real life!!
The Water Cycle
We learned all about the water cycle. In pairs we then created collages in Art representing the water cycle….. evaporation, condensation, precipitation!
Life Cycle of a Salmon
We enjoyed using our IT skills to write about the life cycle of the salmon using Microsoft Word. We then drew lovely diagrams explaining the life cycle.
Evaporation experiment
We mixed salt and water. The salt dissolved in the water. We then left the bowl on the window sill for 5 days. All the water evaporated off and all that was left in the bowl was ……. salt!!
What an experience we had!
We really enjoyed examining the minibeasts from the river bed!
Something fishy workshop
